The general objective of the research was to legally analyze the legal criteria for imposing economic sanctions in cases of environmental crimes in Peru. The present investigation used the method from the quantitative perspective which produces descriptive data, originating from data collection. Using the documentary-bibliographic support. In addition, the inductive-deductive method was applied. The analytical-synthetic method was also used. The use of these methods made it possible to analyze doctrine, normative bodies, legal documents, bibliography, which contributed to the development of the topic. It is concluded that the legal criteria used by judicial authorities in Peru to impose economic sanctions in cases of environmental crimes lack uniformity and consistency in their application. This lack of clarity can lead to dissimilar decisions and a lack of equity in the imposition of sanctions, thus compromising the effectiveness of environmental justice.
