Abstract

AREVALO-MOSCOSO, Iván Oswaldo. The labor relationship of digital platform delivery drivers in Ecuador. Iustitia Socialis [online]. 2025, vol.10, n.19, pp.29-42.  Epub Nov 20, 2025. ISSN 2542-3371.  https://doi.org/10.35381/racji.v10i19.4553.

The general objective of the research was to analyze the labor relationship of digital platform delivery workers in Ecuador. It was developed from a descriptive method, with a non-experimental design, which was supported by documentary-bibliographic analysis. A bibliographic review was carried out through a rigorous research, choosing and evaluating various sources such as: Ecuadorian legislation, scientific articles and international agreements. The documentary technique was used, which allowed gathering information in order to enunciate theoretical treatises that supported the approached topic. In addition, the analytical-synthetic method was used. It is concluded that, although the COVID-19 pandemic boosted the expansion of work in digital platforms in Ecuador as a way to mitigate the economic and health crisis, it also consolidated a labor model with serious and serious precarious conditions for delivery workers. This lack of protection leaves them directly exposed to the multiple risks inherent to their activity.
