Education plays a decisive role in the development of humanity. The objective was to analyze education as an essential human right with individual and social implications. A qualitative research approach was developed, considering the characteristics of the phenomenon under study. The theoretical level method employed was analysis and critique of sources, while the empirical level method involved documentary research to delve deeper into the consulted sources. The results showed that education has played a significant role throughout history, and its status as an inherent human right for all people, without distinction of race, creed, economic status, or any other affiliation, has been reaffirmed. It was concluded that, although countries legally regulate the right to education and assign it a social mission, efforts to achieve equity and inclusion in education for all human beings must continue.
