Objective:
To analyze the management of mental health in Ecuador's public system.
Method:
It was based on a quantitative method, applying a documentary-bibliographic typology. The analysis was based on an exhaustive review of referred material and scientific research.
Results:
A restructuring of management, training of professionals and strong political will are required to build a system that guarantees an accessible and dignified mental health service for the entire population.
Conclusion:
A call to action for authorities, health professionals and society in general. Mental health can no longer be a secondary issue. A paradigm shift is required, from a reactive and hospital-based model to a proactive and community-based one.
