Introduction:

Grynfeltt's hernia is a rare condition that occurs in the lumbar region, involving retroperitoneal fat, the peritoneum, or an intraperitoneal organ, and may be congenital or acquired, occurring at the level of the superior lumbar triangle.

Objective:

To perform a modern and beneficial surgical technique for the repair of Grynfeltt's hernia using minimally invasive surgery in patients.

Case:

A 45-year-old female patient with no relevant medical history attended the clinic due to a mass in the lumbar region that had been present for eight years and had gradually increased in size. This prominence is located in the upper lumbar triangle and corresponds to a mass 4 cm in diameter, painful on palpation, and reducible by the Valsalva maneuver.

Conclusions:

An adequate medical history, physical examination, and abdominal tomography confirm the diagnosis. The literature is limited but supports the use of mesh in laparoscopic repairs for symptomatic hernias.
