To evaluate the effectiveness of the surgical technique of corticotomy as an alternative to accelerate tooth movement.

After applying the inclusion criteria, twenty articles were obtained and reviewed. This literature review confirmed the effectiveness of the surgical technique of corticotomy as an alternative to accelerate tooth movement. corticotomy is a technique based on cortical osteotomy, which can be performed on the vestibular or lingual side or both, depending on each case. Its advantages include reduced orthodontic treatment time and greater traction on impacted or ankylosed teeth.
