Objective:
The objective was to develop a broader understanding of fenestrations and dehiscences in orthodontic treatment.
Method:
A descriptive review based on the collection of articles related to orthodontics, fenestrations, and dehiscence, as well as their diagnostic methods.
Results and Conclusions:
Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is the best diagnostic method for identifying fenestrations and dehiscences. Therefore, diagnosing these periodontal conditions before orthodontic treatment is essential to avoid worsening them and to maintain the patient's dentition in stable condition.
