Objective:
The objective of this study was to conduct a literary review of the appropriate protocol for the placement of conventional fixed appliances in adult patients.
Method:
Literature review, retrospective, with a descriptive approach.
Results and Conclusions:
The literature review established that after applying the inclusion criteria, a total of 28 articles were obtained and reviewed. Microabrasion and the use of deproteinizing agents help achieve better adhesion in patients with structural abnormalities or poor oral hygiene habits. The available literature revealed that the use of deproteinizing agents such as 35% phosphoric acid and 5.25% sodium hypochlorite provides better adhesion properties by increasing the strength of the resins used and preventing surface displacement.
Palabras clave : Fixed orthodontic appliances; bonding of dental materials; dental microabrasion..
