Objective:
To identify the importance of nursing care in critically ill adult patients at nutritional risk according to the NUTRIC Score.
Method:
A qualitative, descriptive, non-experimental systematic review of the literature was conducted, considering 46 previous studies classified according to established parameters, selecting 18 publications (8 scientific articles and 10 degree theses) between 2019 and 2024. The search was conducted in the Scielo, Medline, Elsevier, Redalyc, Google Scholar, and Institutional Repositories databases.
Results:
The identification of nutritional risk is essential and influences the development of complications, evidenced by the increase in mortality rates in patients with a NUTRIC Score >5 (67.06%), which is higher when they do not receive nutritional support (94.28%). Nursing staff play a fundamental role in the preparation and administration of nutritional therapy as part of individualised and comprehensive care. Specialised care includes continuous assessment of nutritional status.
