Introduction:

HELLP syndrome (hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes and low platelet count) is a serious pregnancy complication that compromises maternal and fetal life.

Objective:

To interpret nursing care in obstetric patients with HELLP syndrome in the intensive care unit.

Methodology:

Qualitative-observational, cross-sectional and retrospective systematic literature review using PRISMA methodology, including 2018-2022 publications from Google Scholar, PubMed and Science Direct.

Results:

9 studies were included highlighting the importance of early diagnosis through symptom evaluation, blood pressure control, medication administration, frequent monitoring of maternal and fetal parameters, and multidisciplinary care. Interventions include vital signs control, fluid balance, oxygen therapy and emotional support.

Conclusions:

Nursing professionals play a vital role in caring for patients with HELLP syndrome in ICU, contributing significantly to stability and recovery through specialized knowledge and comprehensive care.
