Objective:
To identify the benefits of Care Bundle for the prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia in intensive care units.
Methods:
Qualitative analytical research through bibliographic review of updated scientific literature, including scientific articles, Latin American databases and scientific evidence from the last 5 years.
Results:
Care Bundle demonstrated effectiveness in reducing acute respiratory infections (ARI) by 27% in ICU. Key interventions include head elevation 30-45°, oral hygiene with 0.12% chlorhexidine, subglottic secretion aspiration, endotracheal balloon pressure control and staff training.
Conclusions:
Implementation of Care Bundle by trained nursing staff significantly reduces the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia, improving care quality and decreasing morbidity and mortality in critical patients.
