Objective:
To establish the level of work stress and its relationship with nursing staff performance through a bibliographic review of studies published between 2017-2021.
Methods:
A qualitative research with retrospective planning was conducted through documentary review of scientific articles in databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, SciELO, BVS, Redalyc and Dialnet. Scientific articles, books, postgraduate theses and scientific presentations from the last 5 years were included.
Results:
The analyzed studies show that 55.3% of nursing staff present medium level work stress, 29.8% low level and 14.9% high level. Emotional exhaustion occurs at medium level in 51.0% of cases. Regarding work performance, regular level predominates with 44.7%, followed by good with 38.3% and deficient with 17%. A significant relationship between work stress and professional performance was evidenced.
