Objectives:
To interpret nursing care in pediatric critical patients under sedoanalgesia effects in complications prevention.
Method:
Exploratory, cross-sectional and retrospective bibliographic review in Medline, Scielo, BVS, ELSEVIER databases, period 2017-2022. 208 initial results were analyzed, applying inclusion and exclusion criteria to obtain 34 definitive sources.
Results:
Main sedoanalgesia indications include pain control, anxiety management and facilitation of diagnostic procedures. Most frequent complications are iatrogenic withdrawal syndrome, pediatric delirium and post-intensive care syndrome.
Conclusions:
Nursing interventions require strict assessment through continuous vital parameters monitoring and validated scales use like BIS, RASS and CAM-UCI to optimize pharmacological dosing and prevent complications at each patient evolutionary moment.
