BERMEO-VASQUEZ, Zara Julieta; SANCHEZ-CAMPOVERDE, Diana Esther  y  VILLA-PLAZA, Carmen Mercedes. Prevention and health promotion in adolescents in the Andean region and Mexico. Systematic review. Salud y Vida [online]. 2026, vol.10, n.19, pp.132-146.  Epub 10-Jun-2026. ISSN 2610-8038.  https://doi.org/10.35381/s.v.v10i19.4999.

Introduction:

Adolescence in Mexico and the Andean region is undergoing a complex epidemiological transition. Traditional preventive models are often hindered by adult-centric approaches that fail to integrate emerging risks.

Objective:

To analyze the risk factors reported in the scientific literature between 2018 and 2024 concerning adolescents in Mexico and the Andean region.

Methods:

A systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA statement. Twenty original articles were selected after screening 442 initial records.

Results:

An evolution of risk was identified across three levels: structural (family dysfunction), emerging (vaping, technostress), and institutional (adult-centrism).

Conclusions:

There is an urgent need to transition toward models that strengthen life projects and digital communication adapted to the current codes of adolescent.
