The Peruvian Amazon, recognized for its immense biodiversity, faces significant challenges due to a lack of investment, a poor geopolitical vision, and limited state presence. These issues have perpetuated a lack of economic resources and social marginalization, especially in native communities. Insufficient transportation infrastructure has kept these communities isolated, restricting their economic opportunities and access to essential services. Sustainable tourism emerges as a viable solution, offering a balance between economic progress and environmental protection. Global cooperation underscores the interest and possibility of obtaining financial and technical support for sustainable projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030. It is crucial for the Peruvian state to adopt a proactive strategy, investing in infrastructure that facilitates inclusive and sustainable development. Improvements in airport infrastructure can become catalysts for economic and social growth, empowering local communities to participate in the tourism economy and other emerging sectors. Without decisive intervention, Peru risks perpetuating poverty and exclusion in the Amazon, preventing its inhabitants from fully integrating into the nation. The correlation between sustainable tourism and sustainable development in the Amazon is direct and essential for achieving a balance between conservation and economic progress, ensuring a prosperous future for its native communities.
