Abstract

HUERTA BERRIOS, Francisco Enrique; FIGUEROA QUITO, Silvia Isabel; TOLEDO QUINONES, Ricardo Enrique  and  HUERTA-BERRIOS, Timoteo Raúl. Technical Optimization of livestock production based on historical indicators. Prohominum [online]. 2025, vol.7, n.2, pp.166-181.  Epub July 03, 2025. The purpose of this research is to optimize the technical performance of livestock production at the Santiago Antúnez de Mayolo Agroindustrial Research Institute (IIASAM Tingua), based on internal statistical data drawn from historical series of technical indicators related to the production of pigs, sheep, and cattle, classified by breed. The study follows a non-experimental, longitudinal, cross-sectional, descriptive, and explanatory research design. To achieve this, agricultural research was integrated with economic analysis through the use of econometric modeling, estimating economic benefit functions based on the achievement of sustainable and efficient breeding objectives at the aforementioned university research institute. As a result, optimizations were obtained for the livestock production functions, specifically in relation to animal weight and age. Based on these findings, an Optimal Production Plan was developed for pig farming. Additionally, econometric models were estimated to optimize feed supply, yielding results that provided relevant insights to support decision-making processes in the management and administration of livestock production at the institute. While the findings offer valuable contributions toward improving efficiency and sustainability at the institutional farm, some results should be interpreted with caution due to limitations in the quality of the internal data used.

Keywords : Livestock production function; livestock weight; livestock age; milk production; optimal production plan.
