Abstract

GARAVITO-CAMPILLO, Erika Tatiana. Route to Strengthen the Pedagogical Practices of Teachers in the Teaching of Social Sciences for the First Primary Grade. Revista Docentes 2.0 [online]. 2024, vol.17, n.2, pp.231-238.  Epub Apr 14, 2025. ISSN 2665-0266.  https://doi.org/10.37843/rted.v17i2.555.

The teacher's role in teaching Social Studies in primary school It's fundamental to cultivating children's understanding of the world around them. The objective of the research was to implement a route to strengthen teachers' pedagogical practices in teaching social sciences in the first grade of primary school at the Augusto Espinosa and Caño Viejo Educational Institutions in Montería. The research was based on a qualitative method, an interpretive paradigm, with an interpretive approach and a phenomenological design. The population included seven teachers and 120 first-grade primary school children. Direct observation and interviews were used as information collection techniques, and the analysis was carried out through data triangulation with the Atlas.ti tool. The results showed that pedagogical practices in these institutions follow a traditional model, with a predominant use of the board and photocopies and little use of technological tools. A considerable distance is evident concerning educational quality since the teacher must transmit knowledge meaningfully and entertainingly to impact children positively. In conclusion, teachers need a playful and appropriate methodology for children, using didactic materials and tools for teaching social sciences. The proposal is relevant since it will facilitate teaching processes, improve the quality of education, and promote a more enriching and effective learning environment.
