An inclusive society requires inclusive education, since this is the only way to deal with all forms of exclusion and marginalization, disparities and inequalities for access, permanence and participation in the training process. For this reason, it is essential to appropriate innovative models and strategies that materialize education from the claim of differences to generate equal learning opportunities for all. Given these considerations, this article is presented with the purpose of describing the characteristic elements of the DUA as a possible reference for Inclusive Education. Methodologically, it corresponded to a documentary study developed at a descriptive level through a bibliographic design. Finally, it can be stated that the DUA is a systematic model of educational innovation based on the principles of diversity, inclusion and equity; therefore, it is presented as a possible way to overcome inflexible curricula that impose barriers and limit learning.
