The objective of this systematic review was to analyze the characteristics of formative evaluation at the primary level in Latin America through scientific articles that were located in journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science and Scielo databases published between 2018 and 2023. A review of scientific articles was performed considering the protocols suggested by the PRISMA model "Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses". It is concluded that there is a limited scientific production related to formative assessment in primary education in Latin America and that formative assessment provides opportunities to learn in a better way, generating positive climates and good relationships. Feedback is immersed in formative assessment and is centered on the student, seeking his or her learning and therefore his or her wellbeing.
