In a world of constant technological and social change, creative thinking in architecture becomes relevant. Students who develop this skill can adapt to new challenges and generate innovative proposals that respond to current and future demands. Therefore, this article is presented with the purpose of determining whether the hand-drawing strategy fosters creative thinking in students of the Design Workshop I of the Professional School of Architecture at the Universidad Nacional Hermilio Valdizán. Methodologically it is a pre-experimental quantitative study, and pretest-posttest type with a single group of 28 students as sample. Data were collected through a survey and the Torrance Test of Creativity Thinking (TTCT), adapted by Contreras and Ruiz (2020). With the findings, it is stated that hand drawing favors the skills of fluency, originality, flexibility and elaboration, which highlight creative thinking.
