The objective of the research was to determine if formative evaluation in the development of communicative competencies in elementary school students of an institution in Pataz. The study followed a quantitative approach and pre-experimental design with pretest-posttest, with a single group. The intervention was aimed at strengthening communicative competencies through the use of different techniques and instruments characteristic of formative evaluation. We worked with 29 intentionally selected students. To measure the results, a 20-item Likert scale questionnaire was used, validated with the Aiken index (0.97) and a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.950 after pilot testing with 14 students. The analysis included statistical techniques such as Shapiro-Wilk, Wilcoxon and graphic representations such as histograms and bar charts. The results confirmed that formative assessment is a highly effective strategy for strengthening key communicative competencies in personal, educational and professional contexts.
