The purpose of this research was to analyze the fundamental role of education in the promotion of a sustainable world, identifying pedagogical strategies. It was developed from a hermeneutic, qualitative and documentary perspective, using a systematic method focused on the interpretative analysis of articles belonging to the Scielo, Redalyc and Scopus databases. As a result, it was found that academic training has been a key foundation for achieving sustainable progress, since it has fostered analytical thinking, moral principles and the skills required to address global issues, such as global warming, social inequity and scarcity of natural resources. In conclusion, it was emphasized that promoting sustainability in education has meant committing to a future where new generations could act with environmental and social awareness.
