The purpose of this article was to examine the process of developing research skills in the university context, emphasizing its relevance in promoting a scientific culture that favors the professionalization of students. To this end, documentary research was conducted using a hermeneutic approach based on the interpretive paradigm and supported by qualitative methods for working with secondary sources. The findings obtained after the reinterpretation process highlight the importance of research in higher education, as it fosters a scientific culture that enriches both the professional development and social impact of students. However, it is crucial to clearly define specific research skills and competencies and to apply strategies from a comprehensive perspective, promoting the link between research, personal growth, and social transformation.
