Resumen

CARAZAS-CARNERO, Luz María  y  HUAMAN-RAMOS, Dora Marianela. Equine therapy as a social-emotional intervention strategy in inclusive education. A systematic review. Episteme Koinonía [online]. 2026, vol.9, n.17, pp.440-459.  Epub 30-Jun-2026. ISSN 2665-0282.  https://doi.org/10.35381/e.k.v9i17.4949.

The purpose of the research was to analyze the influence of the human-animal relationship and animal-assisted therapies on the physical, mental, social, and emotional health of humans, especially those therapies assisted by horses. To this end, a mixed documentary research was carried out, and the methodology applied was governed by the Prisma 2020 guidelines, prioritizing eligibility criteria. The information was extracted from databases such as Scopus, Scielo, Redalyc and Web of Science. The results confirmed that equine therapy has key strengths in self-esteem, emotional self-regulation, empathy, interpersonal trust, and educational inclusion. Likewise, it was evident how this horse-assisted therapy has had a positive impact on clinical aspects, offering a comprehensive alternative aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education).

Palabras clave : Equine therapy; physical health; mental health; socio-emotional development; childhood disability..
