The overall objective of the research was to understand the development of critical thinking in order to enhance learning outcomes in the natural sciences. The study was grounded in a qualitative paradigm with an interpretive epistemological foundation. This methodological approach was implemented through a literature review. With regard to the techniques and instruments used for data collection, the researchers employed semi-structured interviews, focus groups, and direct observation. The data collection process was carried out in four stages. It is concluded that critical thinking in the context of the natural sciences goes beyond the accumulation of disconnected cognitive skills, constituting an intellectual and ethical stance that allows students to analyze, question, and take a reasoned position regarding phenomena in their environment.
