The objective of this research was to understand the management of the caramerudo deer (odocoileus cariacou gymnotis) in captivity in Venezuela. Regarding the methodology used, it was interviews in the zoos and botanical parks in the study areas. The results indicated that the majority of deer have a body weight of 25 to 30 kg for females and 30 to 40 kg for males. This low weight can be attributed to undernutrition, taking into account that in Venezuela the weight of the adult ranges, depending on sex and age, up to a maximum of 70 kg. In conclusion, it was obtained that the deer is a very resistant animal. to diseases, motivated by the fact that no clinical cases were reported in Venezuelan zoos and farms. Very little mortality is also reported, only due to senility (old age of the animals).
