HERAS-HERAS, Mayra Carolina; MORENO-LOPEZ, Joana Alexandra; QUEVEDO-AMAY, Deisy Valeria  y  CUICHAN-PAUCAR, Santiago Homero. Loss of vegetation cover and changes in land use in the Ecuadorian amazon. Agroecología Global [online]. 2024, vol.6, n.10, pp.89-104.  Epub 30-Jun-2024. ISSN 2665-0290.  https://doi.org/10.35381/a.g.v6i10.3579.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the loss of vegetation cover and changes in land use during the period 2001-2020. Methodologically, the research was documentary in nature, information was obtained from the SciELO databases, dissemination of alerts on the Dialnet network, among others. The results showed that the gains and losses of original surface area, for the dense forest category, greater losses were demonstrated for the year 2020, unlike the gains, a large part of the forest losses were for agricultural and livestock uses. In conclusion, the border of pastures and crops increased by 2020; It is expected that this trend of change will continue until 2040, in greater proportion for the category of pastures and crops, this represents that there will be biodiversity problems of environmental and social services, because no clear policies have been formulated.
