The objective of the research is to carry out a study on the fishing of the Ucides Occidentalis in the Churute mangrove ecological reserve, Ecuador. The study had a mixed approach and applied theoretical, empirical and mathematical methods that made the research possible. The study determined a decrease in the population of Ucides Occidentalis from 2018 to 2023 by 0.09 ind/m2. It was determined that the sizes of the Ucides Occidentalis captured ranged from 68.62 mm to 105.03 mm. In the months analyzed 94.75% of the Ucides occidentalis are within the commercial sizes. The community of crabbers and fishermen of Churute are distributed in 17 associations with a total of 1440 crabbers and fishermen. The average total man/day catch is 348 units. The Ucides Occidentalis fishery has a positive impact on the community and its economic development; therefore, it is essential to monitor and control its population.
