Occupational biological risk is caused by exposure to microorganisms present in the work environment, especially in the skins and skins of infected animals. The objective was to evaluate the biological risks to which the personnel working in the Tannery of the city of Ambato are exposed. The study assessed the risks using the Biogaval Neo method and identified the biohazard components and hygienic measures. The results showed that in the wet area the risk level was higher than eight, associated with Bacillus anthracis and Brucella melitensis. Likewise, a high rate of health alterations, mainly respiratory, was evidenced, representing 75% of medical care related to occupational exposure. The process of transforming hides involves a significant biological risk, so it is essential to implement biosecurity measures that protect the health and quality of life of workers.
