The bibliographic research article aims to identify and promote reflection on the role played by the principal in school management, to build a school that responds to new institutional challenges. The study examines managerial leadership based on the analysis of scientific literature. Method: to achieve the objective, a systematic review was carried out, supported by the PRISMA evaluation system, of the main indexed journals and the documentary analysis was carried out in four stages: bibliographic review, exploratory study, presentation of results and use of a simplified bibliographic data manager, which systematized the composition and presentation of results. Conclusion: it was determined that the performance of managerial leadership is based on the professionalism associated with school management, whose purpose is to maximize the quality and efficiency of teaching performance in teaching-learning, the appropriate use of media, materials and the application of standards. with ethical principles.
