DURAND YSLA, Mirian Susana. SOCIAL MEDIA ADDICTION AND ITS IMPACT ON COMMUNICATIVE SKILLS FOR STUDENTS AT A PRIVATE UNIVERSITY. Aula Virtual [online]. 2024, vol.5, n.12, e324. Epub 25-Nov-2024. ISSN 2665-0398. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.12679840.
The study investigates the relationship between communication skills and addiction to social media in university students. A positivist and quantitative approach are used, using the scientific method and inferential statistics to collect data and test hypotheses. The research design is basic and non-experimental, with a transversal and correlational approach. The sample consists of 100 undergraduate students from the Faculty of Education of the César Vallejo University in 2023, selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. After a detailed analysis of the findings, it is unequivocally confirmed that social media addiction has a significant negative impact on students' communication skills. In conclusion, it is crucial to implement appropriate interventions and prevention strategies to encourage responsible use of social media and increase awareness of the associated risks. This study highlights the importance of addressing the problem of social media addiction and its impact on the communication skills of university students.
