This article examines the protection of the rights of police officers in the Peruvian regulatory framework, specifically through Law Nº 31012. The main focus is on evaluating the defense of human rights that are compromised in the actions of the State. when defense instruments are used, such as the police officer's weapon, in situations in which there may be a risk to one's own life or when other rights may be infringed. The research was carried out through a qualitative and descriptive approach, using the dogmatic-legal hermeneutic method. The importance of addressing the application of fundamental principles, such as proportionality and reasonableness, is highlighted, as well as the availability of the Peruvian State to protect the rights of police officers in their fight or defense. However, it is noted that these conflicts have violated fundamental rights, such as the right to life, personal freedom and human dignity. It is highlighted that the current legal provisions are not sufficient to guarantee adequate protection of the police servant.
