PEREZ BRIEL, Karla; VALLEJO IZQUIERDO, Luis Alberto y ARMAS VEGA, Ana del Carmen. ORTHOGNATHIC TREATMENT FOR CLASS III CORRECTION WITH PRE AND POST SURGICAL ORTHODONTICS. CLINICAL CASE. Aula Virtual [online]. 2024, vol.5, n.12, e410. Epub 31-Mar-2025. ISSN 2665-0398. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14834461.
With the aim of presenting the clinical case of a patient with skeletal Angle class III where orthognathic surgery was performed with pre- and post-surgical orthodontic support to correct her malocclusion. Malocclusion is a multifactorial complication of genetic or environmental origin defined as the misalignment of upper and lower teeth resulting in an incorrect adaptation of the bony structures between the maxilla and mandible, hindering masticatory function. Description of clinical case, mestizo female patient, 19 years old, arrives for consultation, in the first appointment, a mandibular prognathism and an evident facial asymmetry were clinically identified in the patient. After one year of post-surgical orthodontic treatment, significant clinical results are evidenced in the patient, an adequate alignment and leveling of the dental arches, with a functional occlusion. This clinical case demonstrates the efficacy of an integrated approach in the management of mandibular prognathism through coordinated orthodontic and surgical treatment. The results obtained after one year of follow-up show a significant improvement in both dental occlusion and facial esthetics of the patient.
