Maternal death refers to the death of a woman during pregnancy, childbirth, or within the weeks following childbirth, due to problems associated with pregnancy or childbirth. Appropriate healthcare and time can prevent this public health issue in numerous situations. Although the maternal mortality rate in Ecuador has experienced a reduction in recent years, obstacles to accessing top-tier medical care still persist, especially in rural areas and among vulnerable groups. It is crucial to continue optimizing prenatal care, the availability of reproductive health services, and maternal health training to further reduce these rates. To reduce and decrease maternal mortality in Ecuador. A systematic review of the literature was conducted up to December 2023 using the databases PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, the Virtual Health Library, Scielo, and Google Scholar.
