Resumen

RUPAY CORDOVA, Orlando Elias. IMPACT OF THE MEDIA ON THE PRESUMPTION OF INNOCENCE IN CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS OF EFFECTIVE COLLABORATION. Aula Virtual [online]. 2025, vol.6, n.13, e439.  Epub 14-Jul-2025. ISSN 2665-0398.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15297972.

The presumption of innocence is a fundamental human right in Peru, but media coverage in criminal cases has generated premature judgments and sensationalism that affect this principle. A qualitative study, based on interviews with specialists and document analysis, reveals that the press negatively impacts judicial impartiality and public trust in institutions. The need for ethical regulations and training for judges and prosecutors is highlighted, promoting responsible coverage that respects the rights of the accused. Additionally, a monitoring committee is proposed to evaluate the influence of the media in judicial cases. The research seeks to strengthen the rule of law, balancing freedom of the press with respect for fundamental rights.

Palabras clave : Presumption of innocence; effective collaboration; media trial; sensationalism; due process.
