The implementation of digital tools in higher education has altered the performance of university professors, promoting innovative learning and teaching methodologies. The objective of this article is to examine current research sources regarding the effect of digital tools on the performance of university professors by comparing studies on the use of digital tools in higher education. It also analyzes essential digital skills, the impact of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) since the pandemic, and their importance in education to optimize their effective use. The systematic analysis focused on academic publications in the Scopus, Sicelo, and Dialnet databases. The results indicate that the appropriate use of digital technologies not only increases the accessibility and adaptability of learning but also promotes collaborative work and active participation. In conclusion, digital tools are indispensable for the professional development of professionals in higher education.
