Abstract
HILARIO RIVAS, Jorge Luis. SUSTAINABLE TRANSFORMATION: IMPLICATIONS OF THE INTEGRATION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND BLOCKCHAIN IN SUPPLY CHAINS. Aula Virtual [online]. 2025, vol.6, n.13, e550. Epub Oct 01, 2025. ISSN 2665-0398. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17208193.
In a context where sustainability is becoming a global imperative, the integration of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain in supply chains has gained significant relevance. The main objective of this article is to analyze how the combination of these technologies influences the sustainability of operations in different industries, exploring their implications for efficiency, traceability, and transparency. To this end, a systematic review methodology was used, which allowed us to compile and evaluate relevant studies that address the interaction between AI, blockchain, and sustainability. The results reveal that the fusion of AI and blockchain significantly improves resource management, optimizes operational processes, and builds consumer trust, which in turn fosters responsible consumption practices. However, gaps in the literature have also been identified that suggest the need for additional research on specific metrics to measure these benefits and on the challenges in implementing these technologies. In conclusion, this study highlights that the combination of AI and blockchain not only has the potential to transform supply chains, but also poses challenges that must be addressed to maximize its positive impact on sustainability.
