Abstract
JACINTO LEIVA, Yomayra and GAONA VALDERA, Gino. DIGITAL EDUCATIONAL APPLICATIONS IN PRIMARY EDUCATION: A REVIEW OF BENEFITS AND LIMITATIONS. Aula Virtual [online]. 2025, vol.6, n.13, e559. Epub Oct 25, 2025. ISSN 2665-0398. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17352756.
The study aimed to analyze the impact of digital educational applications in primary education, considering their benefits, limitations, and contributions to learning. A systematic review of the literature was conducted between 2018 and 2025, identifying research indexed in SciELO and Dialnet that met criteria of relevance and accessibility. Twelve articles were included, mostly from Latin American contexts, which showed that the use of digital applications fostered student motivation and active participation, promoted creativity and autonomy in learning, and strengthened the development of digital skills. Furthermore, some works highlighted their contribution to educational inclusion by offering accessible tools adaptable to different realities. However, limitations were recognized associated with insufficient teacher training, technical difficulties, unequal access to devices and connectivity, as well as pedagogical use poorly aligned with the curriculum. In conclusion, it was determined that the positive impact of these tools depended on their planned integration with learning objectives, ongoing teacher training, and the existence of educational policies that guarantee equity and technological sustainability.
