This article proposes alternatives for strengthening education in democracy present in the current curriculum at its basic and intermediate levels in terms of methodologies and strategies used in countries with high rates of democratic quality. Thus, critical deliberation, learning based on civic projects, expressed in learning plus service, and community projects have proven to be effective in building a citizenry committed to democracy. The methodology is a documentary and argumentative review, based on high-impact sources, which support the general conclusion that the school must assume a political-pedagogical role in the democratic strengthening that the country requires.
