Abstract

RIVERA-CHINCHAYHUARA, Vepsi Jaqueline  and  LORA-LOZA, Miryam Griselda. NUTRITIONAL PROGRAMS AND THEIR EFFECTS ON PREGNANT WOMEN: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW. Aula Virtual [online]. 2026, vol.7, n.14, e651.  Epub Mar 20, 2026. ISSN 2665-0398.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19067314.

The purpose was to review the literature on specific nutritional programs for pregnant women, with a focus on Latin America or Spain. The systematic review considered studies from 2015 to 2025, using PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The databases consulted were Scopus, SciELO, LILACS, Redalyc, and PubMed, yielding 244 documents, of which 15 met the selection criteria. The main results regarding the programs highlighted themes such as effectiveness in preventing nutritional deficiencies, control of gestational weight gain, emphasis on nutrition education and behavior change, and the use of digital strategies to improve adherence to the programs. However, the aim is not only to promote individual interventions, but also to strengthen public actions with greater reach and integration among health, social protection, and education systems to monitor and address adherence issues in nutritional programs. In conclusion, the scope of the interventions is positive, but gaps in implementation and follow-up of maternal nutritional health still remain.

Keywords : Pregnancy; pregnant women; nutritional program; Ibero-America.
