Abstract

PARAGUAY VILCAS, Luis Carlos; ESPINOZA BLAS, Nelly Lorenza  and  TRUCIOS VILCAS, Jefferson. THE TIYANKICHUS ARRIVE WITH ABUNDANCE: AGRICULTURAL KNOWLEDGE, SPIRITUALITY AND ECOLOGICAL MEMORY IN THE ANDEAN COMMUNITIES OF COLCABAMBA - HUANCAVELICA. Aula Virtual [online]. 2026, vol.7, n.14, e713.  Epub June 04, 2026. ISSN 2665-0398.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.20400258.

The present research analyzes the role of the tiyankichu bird (Sporophila luctuosa) as an ecological marker and symbol of abundance within the corn agricultural cycle in the communities of Colcabamba, Huancavelica. The study is based on a qualitative approach with an ethnographic design, recovering the internal vision of social actors through participant observation and the collection of oral narratives in Quechua. The results show that agricultural practices are not merely subsistence strategies but cultural devices that articulate ecological memory, rituality, and social organization. It is identified that the arrival of the tiyankichu activates collective memory and organizes harvest tasks, acting as a bridge between technical knowledge and the sacred vision of the cosmos. It is concluded that Andean agricultural knowledge is an integral and community epistemic system that resists global homogenization, where abundance represents a state of relational balance between the human community, biodiversity, and the sacred environment.
