The overall objective of this article was to examine the impact of public health policies on hospital management in Ecuador through a systematic review of scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025. To achieve this objective, a qualitative-descriptive methodology was used based on the PRISMA model, which involves four stages: search, screening, selection, and inclusion of information from various scientific databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, SciELO, LILACS, and Google Scholar. The results of the review, based on the analysis of 12 articles, show that health policies have contributed to improving the infrastructure and coverage of hospital services; however, there are ongoing challenges related to the fragmentation of the system and weak coordination among the different levels of care. Additionally, positive changes in operational and financial management were identified thanks to government investment; however, challenges persist regarding the staff’s limited technological training. With regard to performance indicators, while there have been improvements in service quality, problems related to bed shortages and high staff turnover persist. Meanwhile, the study concludes that it is crucial to optimize resources, improve staff training, and strengthen interagency coordination in order to move toward more efficient and sustainable hospital management.
