MACIAS LOOR, Mario Ecuador y MOLINA MOREIRA, Jhon Jairo. Proportioning of Structural Concrete by Apparent Volume for Strength. Athenea [online]. 2025, vol.6, n.22, pp.61-69. Epub 12-Ene-2026. ISSN 2737-6419. https://doi.org/10.47460/athenea.v6i22.116.
This study presents a technical proposal for the volumetric mix design of structural concrete, in which the proportions of cement, sand, and coarse aggregate are determined according to predefined measurement criteria. A quantitative methodology was applied through compressive strength tests con- ducted in a laboratory setting, confirming that the proposed mixture reaches or exceeds 210 kg/cm2 at 28 days. Commonly used regional cements were analyzed to validate their performance against the specified target compressive strength. Additionally, practical measurement tools were developed to ensure accurate on-site replication of the mixture. The purpose of the study was to improve concrete quality without reliance on specialized equipment, facilitating its applicability in real construction environments. The results demonstrate that, with reliable techniques, it is possible to design volumetric concrete mixes with controlled and consistent quality.
