Teacher training in the natural sciences is essential for educational excellence. This article emphasizes the development of specific competencies in didactics, preparing future educators with advanced skills to teach effective classes. It delves into innovative pedagogical approaches, student-centred strategies and assessment methods aligned with key competencies. The practical application of these concepts in teacher education not only addresses theory, but also provides meaningful experiences, preparing educators to meet the dynamic challenges of natural science teaching. Detailed exploration of teaching and assessment strategies, coupled with practical application in simulated educational environments, creates a solid foundation for pedagogical excellence. This comprehensive approach ensures that educators not only acquire conceptual knowledge, but also develop the skills necessary to inspire understanding and enthusiasm for the natural sciences in future generations. The methodology used was based on a review and synthesis of knowledge and practices supported by specialized literature and educational research. In summary, this article comprehensively addresses the importance of competency development in the didactics of natural sciences, providing educators with the necessary tools to excel in their formative role.
