Abstract
ALCIVAR CATAGUA, María Antonella; LOOR MACIAS, Mercedes Guadalupe and MENDOZA CEVALLOS, María Gabriela. The role of citizen participation in the formulation and evaluation of environmental policies in Ecuador. Revista InveCom [online]. 2024, vol.4, n.2, e040221. Epub May 23, 2024. With the intention of analyzing the role of citizen participation in the formulation and evaluation of environmental policies in Ecuador, this work is presented based on a systematic review in the Google Scholar and Redalyc databases, where a search was carried out to specifically locate scientific articles and research on the subject in a period from 2020 to 2024. The registration of the included studies was carried out through the PRISMA protocol, selected in its entirety 17 documents that in essence exemplify a nation within the Latin American region, whose Magna Carta, without a doubt, generates the legal bases required for the development of a full citizenship in environmental matters. Most of the works analyzed show that it is a nation with a governance approach as part of the exercise of the democratic rights of its inhabitants, where the consolidation of initiatives is dedicated to environmental problems of local, national and global impact, framed in a constitutional and legal basis, which, however, continues to face as a major difficulty the full attention of the institutions and the State for its full compliance.
