Abstract
MAGALLANES RAVINEZ, María Luisa; MORENO FERNANDEZ, Ynes Susana and MAGALLANES BALTODANO, Gabriela Estefani. Effectiveness of prison treatment programs in adults in Ibero-America 2017-2022: a systematic review. Revista InveCom [online]. 2024, vol.4, n.2, e040260. Epub July 24, 2024. Prison treatment programs have become an essential part of criminal justice systems around the world. The aim of the research was to conduct a systematic review of adult prison treatment programs in Ibero-America during the period 2017-2022. Methodologically, it was approached from the principles of the PRISMA declaration, establishing the following inclusion criteria; a) research with a publication date between 2017/2022, b) scientific articles and theses in institutional repositories, c) documents in Spanish and English and d) open access documents. The results of the search allowed us to recognize 17 works. A preponderance of literature review research was revealed, followed by descriptive quantitative studies, whose approaches allowed an understanding of prison treatment programs for adults in Ibero-America. Through this review, it has been evidenced how these programs have impacted social reintegration, showing both areas of success and those that require significant adjustments and improvements.
Keywords : prison treatment; social reintegration; evaluation of prison programs.
