Abstract

VALENCIA MINO, Joselyn Tatiana et al. Surgical Treatment of Fournier’s Syndrome. Revista InveCom [online]. 2024, vol.4, n.2, e040265.  Epub Aug 23, 2024. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.10718111.

This study focused on conducting an analysis of the existing literature on Fournier syndrome, addressing key aspects such as its clinical presentation, etiology, risk factors, treatment, and prognosis. A review was carried out, using various medical and academic databases to select recent relevant articles. The findings highlighted the diversity in the presentation of this condition, from mild symptoms to severe forms, mostly caused by bacterial infections of the gastrointestinal tract. Urgent care, including surgery and antibiotics, was found to be crucial, and patients who survived were found to face long-term complications. The research also explored new therapies such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy, although unanswered questions remained, underscoring the continued need for research and prevention in the management of Fournier syndrome. This analysis emphasized the complexity of this condition and the importance of a comprehensive approach to improving clinical outcomes.
