The purpose of this article was to develop an analysis of the administration of high-risk medications, associated with nursing practice and circumstances of errors in Ecuador, from a systematic review using the Google Scholar and Science Direct databases, in which a search was carried out to locate scientific articles. relevant essays and research on the topic, the search period for which was between 2020 and 2024. To this end, the PRISMA protocol was used, through which 17 documents were selected from 167 analyzed, as they met the criterion of relevance. Among the results, it is highlighted that, despite the efforts of nursing professionals when it comes to guaranteeing safety in the administration of high-risk medications, it is necessary to resort to continuous and intensive training in order to implement improvements that guarantee patient safety as much as possible, the circumstances of errors being: the calculation of doses, the speed of administration, the use of incompatible diluents, the misplacement of drugs and the confusion of drugs with other similar drugs. The errors stem from the overworkload and the need for more knowledge.
