The aim of the article was to verify the correlation between learning strategies and communication skills; The first is conceived as a set of cognitive faculties that integrate new knowledge into learning, on the other hand, the socio-linguistic skills that allow assertive communication in specific situations. The study developed from the positivist perspective, basic type, hypothetical deductive and correlational method; The population consisted of 920 people, whose sample of 114 was calculated through non-probability sampling. Two questionnaires were used: ACRA and HABICOM, validated by expert judgment and with a reliability obtained of 95%. The results, demonstrated through Rho de Spearman, showed a correlation between learning strategies and communication skills in higher level students of a police training school. It is concluded that learning strategies are related to communicative skills in 84.7%. Communicative skills require 84% of cognitive learning strategies: acquisition, coding, retrieval, and processing support.
