Abstract
JADAN SANCHEZ, Víctor Manuel; BELDUMA PIZARRO, Nathaly Alexandra and ELIZALDE ORELLANA, Marco Vinicio. Evolution and projection of agricultural production (Bananas and Coffee) in Ecuador in the period 2012-2025. Revista InveCom [online]. 2024, vol.4, n.2, e040287. Epub Aug 24, 2024. This research examined the evolution and projection of banana and coffee production in Ecuador between 2012-2025, using a mixed methodology with quantitative (statistical analysis of time series) and qualitative (literature review) methods. Trends, fluctuations and determinants of the performance of these key sectors were analyzed. The results showed fluctuations in the case of bananas with a decreasing trend, attributed to phytosanitary and climatic problems and external competition. As for coffee, high year-on-year variability was observed in production volumes, explained by limitations in access to financing, poor infrastructure and price volatility. Projections anticipate recovery by 2025, but interventions are required in technification, productive articulation, quality, innovation and sustainability. The study provides useful information for strategic planning and policy formulation that enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of these key agricultural sectors for Ecuador.
